Victor Hanescu, one of Romania's top tennis players of the time, lost his chance of winning the BCR Open Romania tennis competition this weekend as he lost the finals against French Gilles Simon, ranked 42, in three sets.

Making to this final is a success for Hanescu after one year and a half of bad lucks and injuries.

Hanescu won the first set, taking the lead. However, in the second part, he fought for each point. Gilles Simon took advantage of the unfavorable moment of the Romanian and speed up the game, managing to win the second and third sets with 3-6, 2-6.

Victor Hanescu is the first Romanian to play in Bucharest's BCR Open Romania final.
