The consumption price index (IPC), an index measuring inflation, rose by 0.86% in August 2007 as compared to the previous month and the annual inflation rate rose to almost 4.96%.

In July the inflation rate was under 4%, according to the data released by the National Statistics Institute on Tuesday.

As compared to July this year, prices grew most in the food sector (1.7%) and services (1.1%) in August.

When it comes to the service sector, the biggest price boosts were reported for mail services (23.26%), telephony (3%) and air transportation (2.85%).
