President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso declared that the EC will introduce on September 19 its first set of measures designed to settle the interior energy market. The statement is part of a comment made by Barosso about the European energy market facing the entrance of a non-European player, KazMunaiGaz as a result of the Rompetrol deal last week.

"An major acquisition in the energy field, like the transaction you refer to, is analyzed by the Commission's services, in order to decide whether it is or it isn't compatible with the interior market regulations", said Barosso for Hotnews.ro.

Barosso added that "a very ambitious set of measures" will be introduced by the European Commission in September. Barroso says that it would be better for Europe to have a real interior market, with 500 million users, instead of 27 small markets.
