A Romanian immigrant set himself on fire right in front of the Castellon Government sub-delegation on Tuesday to draw attention to desperate situation he's had to deal with since he arrived in Spain three months ago. The Spanish press treats the subject extensively, since Castellon hosts the biggest Romanian community in Spain.

The Romanian was immediately taken in a serious condition by Red Cross doctors for treatment.

According to the Spanish daily La Vanguardia, the man in his 40’s or 50’s made the desperate act as he could not find a stable job. The man was supposed to return to Romania with her daughter, Isabela but they were not able to get enough money.

The immigrant’s daughter told the Spanish press that after they arrived in Castellon three months ago, she sold soft drinks in the market with her father but the authorities forbade them to continue.
