Romania Government decided on Wednesday to set the date for the future European Parliament elections on November 25. At the end of the session, PM Tariceanu announced that Romania will be represented by 35 MEPs and that the scrutiny is an "exam that has to be passed".

The European elections should have taken place in the spring, but were blocked by the governmental crisis that ended with a referendum on president Basescu's suspension.

Tariceanu says he will consult the parties so that the fairness of elections would be ensured.

Tariceanu already discussed the date for the elections on Monday with the representatives of all political parties, except the former governing partners and allies, the Democrats.
