Extreme temperatures impose extreme measures: Bucharest will be a deserted city as all public institutions close between 11 am and 6 pm because of the red alert weather warning installed by meteorologists on Tuesday.

Moreover, all squares in the city will be closed untill 6pm to protect the population against the effects of extreme temperatures.

According to meteorologists, temperatures will reach 41 degrees Celsius and the real-feel temperature will get even higher.

Local authorities set up a TelVerde, a free toll number, 0800 800 772 to dial in case of emergencies caused by the extreme weather conditions.

Military forces will also assist authorities in setting up first aid tents and hospitals increased the number of ambulances ready to respond to emergencies.
