Traffic restrictions for heavy vehicles would be extended for the whole Romanian territory, Health minister Eugen Nicolaescu announced on Thursday.

Trucks and lorries weighting more than 7.5 tons will not be allowed on either national and county roads between 11am and 9pm starting with Thursday, July 19. The interdiction will be maintained up to Sunday, July 22.

Initially, circulation restrictions for trucks and lorries was applied in 21 counties to prevent any possible damage to the roads due to high temperatures.

Because of the organge code warning installed by meteorologists, the restriction was expanded for the whole country.
