The phosphorus cloud in Ukraine will not reach Romania, said the Romanian Environment Minister, Attila Korodi. After samples of water and air were analyzed, it became clear that none of the regions in Northern Romania was polluted.

The toxic cloud, formed after a train transporting white phosphorus derailed, remains near the border with Poland and Slovakia. Ukrainian authorities still refuse to make any official statements about the disaster.

The Environment Minister considers that the attitude adopted by Ukraine is abnormal and promised to cooperate with his homologues in Poland and Slovakia, in order to file an official complaint at the European Union's institutions.

Still, Korody says that he received a letter from the Polish Environment Minister, Jan Szyszko, who informed him that there are no changes in the air and the cloud is wearing off in Ukraine.
