President Traian Basescu declared on Wednesday night that he will demand a written and complete presentation of the way the Government intends to finance the promised 40% growth of pensions.

The chief of state underlined the fact that an unsafe choice of resources may lead to a full collapse of the pensions fund in 2008 or 2009 and shown that several other governmental ordinances issued in the past Social Democrat regime also had just an electoral character, either being inapplicable or lasting for a very short while.

Both PM Tariceanu and Finance Minister Varujan Vosganian claim that the economic growth expected for 2007 is enough to cover the supplementary budget expenses.

Basescu also wants to know if the pensions growth would affect the finds for education, infrastructure or EU co-financing.
