A Romanian MP was forced to halt a session debating a motion against the Government for several minutes on Tuesday to allow journalists witnessing the event to wake up. The Parliamentary session had for today’s agenda a simple motion on agriculture, initiated by the opposition Social Democrats and finally postponed due to lack of quorum.

The motion is set to be decided upon on Thursday. MPs for the governing Liberal Party were the first to leave the session when the voting started.

The motion tabled by the Social Democrats eyed the crisis currently affecting Romanian agriculture. It came as the proposed budget for agriculture amounts to almost 800.000.000 euro which raises the budget by 1.88% GDP. The money will be used to cover losses suffered by farmers because of drought.
