The US - Romanian partnership, the strategic importance of the Black Sea area, Russia and the anti-rocket shield were the main topics of the meeting.

During the Rice-Cioroianu meeting, the NATO summit in 2008, scheduled to take place in Bucharest, was another important point, given the fact that Albania, Croatia and Macedonia may be invited to join the Alliance next year.

During a meeting with the press, Cioroianu declared that he submitted a list containing suggestions for 20 Romanian ambassador seats to president Traian Basescu, including for the critical embassy in the US.
