The MPs delay of the Nokia investment in Cluj will have serious negative effects on Romania as business partner for major companies. Viorel Gavrea, manager of the industrial park where Nokia should be hosted, claims that the Parliament's decision may also affect the relations between the local administration and other companies which made public their intention to invest in the Cluj area.

The village of Jucu, where the Nokia investment was supposed to be made has over 1,000 hectares of state-owned land, where the Tetarom III industrial park intends to expand.

According to Viorel Gavrea, there are demands from both Romania and other countries for more than 800 hectares. After the incident with Nokia, the interest for the area may decrease, the manager says.

The Tetarom boards is expecting a letter from Nokia, asking them to explain the incident. "I tried today to calm them down and explain that nothing happened and it is just a delay. The Nokia representatives responded that the delay is not the problem, but the negative signal it represents and makes them have second thoughts", says Gavrea.

After the Nokia and the Emerson investments are made, the three technology parks of Tetarom will add up to 30,000 jobs and 500 million euros investments. But all of it depends now on what's left of the local administration's credibility and the kind of understanding Nokia and other foreign investors are ready to show.
