Romania will vote on Thursday, during the Telecomm and Energy Council reunion in Luxembourg, in favor of lowering the fees for international mobile phone calls made within the states of the European Union.

"Romania's vote is designed to protect the users from excessive pricing, still allowing the development of the telecomm sector and the promotion of mobile telephony competition on the market", a press release from the IT&C Ministry informs.

The European Parliament voted in favor of this measure on May 23.

According to the new regulation, the maximum prices for roaming calls would be 49 euro cents for made calls and 24 euro cents for received calls, decreasing to 46 and 22 cents in the first year and 43 / 19 cents in the third year.
