The US ambassador in Bucharest, Nicholas Taubman, visited unexpectedly the headquarters of the main Opposition party, Social Democrats (PSD) on Tuesday, having a private one-hour meeting with the head of the party, Mircea Geoana.

PSD leaders were dazzled both during the visit and after.

None of the PSD leaders at the headquarters - who came for a major party consultation of the anti-governmental motion tabled by the Democrats - was able to offer any details about the visit.

Geoana declared on Tuesday that PSD won't support the Democrat motion and announced that the PSD strategy for this parliamentarian session will be announced on Friday.

It was the third public appearance of Nicholas Taubman during the past month, after a warning on the decreasing interest of investors in Romania, due to the political instability, and after an interview saying that he's worried because of rumors about "not so fair-play political games".
