The Communist Party in the Moldovan Republic remained ahead of all other political groups in the preferences of Moldovan voters at the May 3 local elections but their win was 13% lower than the previous elections in 2003. With 91% of the votes counted, the governing party received 35% of the votes in these elections, followed by Our Moldova Alliance-AMN with 16.7%.

The Democratic Party-PD received 11% of the votes, 3% higher than in 2003, while the Christian Democratic Popular Party received 8.4% of the votes, almost double than four years ago.
