Orange Romania will launch its new 3G+ services in ten cities across Romania on June 25. The technology allows a data transfer speed of up to 3.6Mbps. The announcement was made by Orange commercial manager Thierry Millet as the company celebrates ten years of activity on the Romanian market.

The clients of the company currently using 3G/EDGE services will receive the 3G+ services at the same tariffs as for 3G.

Millet also announced that the company would offer anniversary packages to ten clients from each year of activity on the Romanian market, while all those who are Orange clients from the very first year - some 17,000 people - will receive surprise gifts.

The Mobil Rom company launched the Dialog commercial service in eight cities across Romania on June 6, 1997, with an initial coverage of 23% of the population. By mid-April 2000, France Telecom, Mobil Rom’s main shareholder, buys Orange and decides to bring all its mobile operations under the Orange brand.

A year later, Dialog and Alo, the prepaid service, change their name into Orange.

By the end of Q1 this year, Orange Romania had incomes of 283.3 million euro at 8.2 million clients. The company forecasts a boost of incomes to 1.1 billion euro and of clients to 9 million this year.
