The Government discusses today a suggestion made y the Justice Ministry, according to which the future National Integrity Law (ANI) should be enabled to verify annual wealth growth of dignitaries in case the year-over-year sum is above 10,000 euros, instead of 20,000 as the ANI law reads.

Justice Minister Tudor Chiuariu also says that the institution should be autonomous, instead of being subordinated to the Senate, as it is now, after the law was promulgated by the interim president Nicolae Vacaroiu.

Related to the subject, Interior Minister Cristian David declared that Romania doesn't risk to have the EU safeguarding clauses on Justice activated. The statement was made after David met Franco Frattini, European Commissioner for Justice.
