Social Democrat head Mircea Geoana declared that his party, PSD, will attend the negotiations organized by president Traian Basescu, scheduled for discussions on the targets announced by the head of state during his referendum campaign.

Geoana mentioned that the prime minister, Calin Popescu Tariceanu, is the one who should be looking for support in the Parliament, because "governing is not a God-given right".

The honorary PSD president, former head of state Ion Iliescu, refuses to attend the negotiations unless Basescu apologizes for including him on the list of oligarchs.

Geoana announced that his party doesn't agree with all the problems raised by Basescu, but is in favor of the uninominal vote.
