The Sport Arbitration Court in Lausanne (TAS) published a decision on Tuesday, bringing the scandal between the Romanian football player Adrian Mutu and the British Chelsea football club to an end.

TAS decided that a FIFA commission may establish "sport and / or financial compensations" for Mutu's sudden departure from the club.

In 2006, the FIFA commission rejected the case, declining its competence.

Chelsea sacked Adrian Mutu in October 2004, after an anti doping test in which he was found using illegal substances. As a result, the player was suspended for 7 months.

Chelsea also intends to demand compensations from the Juventus Torino club, for offering Mutu a contract while he was still suspended.
