Romanian energy company Petrom has discovered a new natural gas deposit in Torcesti, Galati county in eastern Romania, allowing a daily production of 130,000 cubic meters of gas and 11 tons of gas-condensate, forecasts quoted in a company press release show. Werner Ladwein, member of the Petrom board, says the company plans to start the development of the new deposit as soon as possible.

“We believe we can begin production by the end of 2007 or early 2008”, Ladwein said.

The Torcesti pit was drilled at a depth of 2,986 m in late 2006.
