The trade union at Romania’s helicopter maker IAR Ghimbav in Brasov launched a general strike on Monday, according to TV reports. They claim corrections to how compensation salaries would be distributed if the company is privatized as authorities in Bucharest have been planning.

The Authority for State Assets Recovery, which is due to sell IAR Ghimbav, says the strike is unjustified as all claims put forward by protesters had been solved already.

But the trade union say that the Authority did not solve a key aspect of its claims - that employees receive between 20 and 40 compensation salaries according to their age and length of employment at IAR.
