Private investors from Oman recently expressed their interest in building a new bridge over the Danube, connecting Romania and Bulgaria in the Calarasi / Silistra region, Bulgarian media informs.

The official intention was made public by Ivo Andonov, Silistra mayor, quoted by the national radio.

The second bridge is currently under construction and is scheduled to come into use in 2010, connecting the cities of Calafat and Vidin.

The construction will host 1440 meters of roads and 2480 meters of railroads, Novonite informs, quoted by Hotnews.ro. The Vidin - Calafat bridge is a key element in the Istanbul - Dresden corridor. The only existing bridge currently ties the cities of Giurgiu and Ruse.
