A member of a Romanian military sub-unit in Afghanistan has suffered an eye injury in an accident during a patrol in the province of Herat, the Romanian Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday. Sergeant Ioan Constantin was wounded in an explosion that occurred in the area covered operationally by Romanian troops in the region, ministry representative Romeo Feraru told HotNews.ro.
Constantin was transferred to the Spanish military hospital in Herat. His seeing was not affected by the wound, Feraru said. The soldier is due to return to his activities in 4-5 days.
No other injury was reported following the incident, according to Feraru.
