A new pollution monitoring and intervention program, Life Air Aware, was launched on Friday by the state environment authorities. In case the program is successful, the real estate prices may soon take into account pollution as a price construction indicator.
The Air Aware project is partially financed by the European Union, through the "LIFE-Environment" cash route. The project is running since 2005 and will end in 2008, aiming at precision measurements of the pollution degree in Bucharest.
Responsible institutions will be warned, in case the project works, whenever the pollution degree goes over the normal limit. Future development projects may also depend more or less on the results of this survey.
