The PMs decision to suspend president Traian Basescu was published on Thursday afternoon. The Permanent Bureaus in the Senate and in the House of Deputies formally informed the Constitutional Court, the Presidential Administration and the Government on the decision.
Officials in the House of Deputies say that the Constitutional Court will officially acknowledge the decision on Friday and will declare the presidential seat as vacant.
The interim president will be Nicolae Vacaroiu, Senate speaker and Social Democrat Party vice president.
Depending on the answer of the Constitutional Court, Basescu will sign his resignation, in case it is decided that the Parliamentarian process was correct.
Demonstrants in the University Plaza ask Basescu not to resign.
