Russia will open an official investigation against billionaire Boris Berezovsky, following his recent statements in an interview for "The Guardian", telling that he prepares to force Putin's replacement from his presidential seat.

Moscow officials asked the United Kingdom to withdraw the political refugee status of the billionaire and to evaluate the way his statements come against the law.

"We already instructed the authorities in charge to open a criminal file for Berezovsky, since we face a public appeal to overturn the constitutional regime in Russia through violence", said the Russian Prosecutor General, Yuri Chaika.

The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, also expressed his indignation, claiming that "Berezovsky abuses the political refugee statute, his actions demanding extradition, according to the British laws".
