The energy giants in Europe get closer and closer to completely losing their control over their own groups, given the EU efforts to divide them into smaller groups, EUObserver.com notes.
High-ranked European officials confirmed that Brussels prepares a set of laws designed to separate production from the distribution within the large energy companies.
The so-called “belonging separation” is seen by European authorities as a key towards cheaper energy and as the best way to encourage competition in the energy field. The law draft is due for presentation in September, officials say.
