The US Government will send its first military troops in Romania and Bulgaria starting this summer, said the supreme commander of the US troops in Europe, John Craddock. The agreement for hosting US troops on Romanian soil was signed during the summer of 2006.

The number of military to be employed in Romanian-based units will not go over 3,000. The main purpose of the exercises to be developed is to ensure the regional stability and to maintain presence in the Caucasian and Black Sea area.

US’ recent decision to withdraw 40,000 militaries from Europe is to be analyzed once again. For the moment, the United States have some 112,000 militaries in Europe.
