The construction of the Bucharest - Brasov highway officially begun on Thursday. The estimated value of the project is 1.8 billion euros, with a deadline set for 2012. The first segment of the construction connects Ploiesti to Moara Vlasiei.
The highway, set to cross four counties, was fist supposed to cost 1.6 billion euros, but the price grew due to the general price growth for construction materials, project developer Search Corporation informs.
The construction will be 173.3 kilometers long, in five sections, will have two lanes per direction, for a total width of 23.5 meters in difficult regions and 26 meters in plain areas. 14 parking and service facilities are to be built along the road.
