The head of the European Popular Party (EPP), Wilfried Martens, and the EPP group leader in the European Parliament, Joseph Daul, say that the European elections should take place in Romania at the date first established, May 13, a press release shows.

Remarks were made official after the Liberal-Democrat Alliance for Europe (ALDE) and the European Socialists (ESP) accepted the possibility to postpone the scrutiny because of the interior political crisis.

"Our group always pledged for the European unification and mostly for Romania's accession to the EU", the release reads. "Only this way Romanian citizens will be convinced that the Union and their representatives in the EP work in the best conditions", says Joseph Daul.
