Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu threatened to suspend the European Parliament elections in case president Basescu doesn’t give up the uninominal vote referendum and the Opposition leaders don’t quit the president’s suspension debates.

Tariceanu warned the leaders of all political parties that this was the ultimate call for responsibility, in order to avoid a delay in the European Parliament elections.

The president’s intention will lead to an inconclusive result, while the president’s suspension referendum does nothing but coming in the way of the European elections, Tariceanu believes.

“In case you don’t give up these issues, president Basescu and president Geoana, I shall call you responsible for failing to respect the obligations we assumed to citizens and European structures”, said Tariceanu.
