The most important two oil and gas companies in Romania, Rompetrol and Petrom, are about to sign a contract for mutual deliveries of goods, allowing each company to buy fuels from the other's refinery. The fuel is to be sold in the gas stations located nearer to the refineries.

The contract is expected to lead to a price decrease at the station, due to lower transport costs. The project draft is being analyzed by the Competition Council. Any observations have to be officially returned before March 15. The main question is whether the collaboration will lead to a monopolistic market or not.
