The simple motion submitted in the Romanian Parliament against the Justice Minister, Monica Macovei, caused worries in Brussels. The European Commissioner for Justice, Franco Frattini, declared for Deutsche Welle he has the highest regard for minister Macovei.

According to DW, sources in the European Commission say that Frattini is worried with the “negative elements that might change the positive trend in the Romanian Justice”.

In his public statements, Frattini hasn’t made any statements about the Romanian Parliament, simply saying he would trust its decision.

Latest Update:

President Traian Basescu decided to convoke the speakers of the two parliamentarian chambers for a meeting on Tuesday, 30 minutes before the motion against Macovei is scheduled for debate.
