Romania and Croatia may sign this year a Memorandum for the Constanta - Trieste oil pipeline development, prime minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu, after meeting the Croatian homologue, Ivo Sanader.

The Constanta-Trieste pipeline would cross 1,360 kilometers and is conceived as a part of the pipeline transporting Black Sea oil to the European market. The capacity is designed for 112 million tons of oil per year, costs adding up to 2.2-4.6 billion dollars.

The inter-state surveillance committee for the project is formed by Romania, Serbia and Croatia, with Italy and Slovenia as observers.
