Just a fourth of the citizens of euro member countries believe the accession of Romania and Bulgaria in the EU is beneficial, according to a new public opinion poll produced by FT-Harris and quoted by Financial Times in its online edition on Monday.

The poll shows many respondents believe migration has led to lower salaries in their country. And the large majority believe the adoption of the single currency has influenced the economy of their countries negatively.

More than 50% of Germans and over two thirds of French, Italians and Spaniards believe the euro did not help their economies and would support a return to their old national currencies.
