A number of twenty insurance companies including three from Germany, four from Ireland and 13 from the UK have announced their intention to enter the Romanian market, while a 21st from Austria showed interest to open a branch here, according to a press release of the Insurance Supervision Commission-CSA in Bucharest.

Starting January 1, any insurer or authorized intermediary may from any of the European Economic Area may operate in Romania directly or via a local branch which may be established without special authorizations from the CSA.
