About 20 tourists have been blocked for three days at a challet in the Bucegi Mountains, some 140 km north of Bucharest following heavy snowfalls in the area early this week. Intervention teams managed to rescue the group at noon on Friday despite their efforts earlier in the day came to a halt as access routes were completely covered by thick snow.

The group includes six children and a pregnant woman. They were recovered after gendarmes managed to clear the snow on the way to the challet.

As rescue teams are calling for supplementary machines to remove the snow, gendarmes managed to reach the cabin by helicopter and deliver food. They used the occasion to evacuate a man who was suffering from kidney pains.
