The parliamentarian groups of the social democrats and far-right Great Romania submitted on Wednesday a simple motion to demand the immediate ceasing of the CEC privatization process.

CEC is the last bank fully owned by the Romanian state, a popular bank founded 150 years ago, with offices all through the country, including small, hard to reach villages.

The 43 signing Senators say that the bank should have a new board, formed by financial specialists as well as representatives of the employers, unions, retired persons and civil society.

Both parties say that the historic value is priceless and that Romania should have anyway more than one bank running on local capital.
