After Romania’s accession to the European Union, the Romanians are about to find that rights come hand in hand with duties. One of the duties will be the Green Tax for electric equipment.
The tax will increase the price for electric and electronic households with 2-10 and maybe even 20 euros after January 1st, 2007.
In fact, the tax will come into force most probably in March, and will refer to three categories of households: white, grey and brown, named after their standard colors in retail. The tax will be used in order to organize the collecting and recycling of electric and electronic households.
