The unemployment rate decreased in September to 5% of Romania’s active population, after August’s 5.6%, a release of the National Statistics Institute informs.

According to the data provided by the National Labor Force Agency, the number of unemployed personnel at the end of September was 440,200 persons, 53,600 less compared to September 2005. Women were 42.6% of the total.

Bucharest, Timis, Ilfov are the counties with the minimum unemployment rate (2 - 2.6%), while Vaslui, Gorj and Mehedinti face the highest percentages, between 8.6 and 9.8%.

The industrial production in September 2006 was 6.5% higher than in September 2005.
