A senator for the National Liberal Party-PNL became the ninth member of the Romanian Parliament who officially joined the political platform set up by two dissident Liberals, Teodor Stolojan and Valeriu Stoica, after Stolojan was expelled from the PNL earlier this autumn.

Senator Dan Sabau announced on Wednesday that he would form an initiative group for the region of Braila in support of the Stolojan-Stoica movement.

The political faction is trying to establish a firmer partnership with President Basescu’s Democratic Party-PD, as internal strife in the governing coalition formed around the PD and the PNL has been spiraling out of control.
