Chancellor Angela Merkel warns that Germany may demand supplementary measures for Romania and Bulgaria in Justice and Interior Affairs, Deutsche Welle informs. Merkel asked the EU president for a a new briefing on the was the way the two countries dealt with the problems emphasized in the last monitoring report.

„Through this motion, I asked the EU president to explain once again how much was solved in the issues brought up by the last monitoring report, mainly in Justice and Interior. Germany’s demanding anything or not depends on this briefing”, said Merkel.

The German Chancellor met Romanian prime minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu on Thursday, in order to discuss Romania’s accession and the perspective of Germany taking ovr the EU presidency in 2007.

Merkel firmly stated that the Romanian workers will be subject to the same rules as the citizens of the ten countries in the first enlargement wave.
