The Democratic Party (PD), a senior member of the governing coalition in Bucharest where it was propelled by President Traian Basescu, will become a full member of the European Popular Party starting January 1 next year, PD head Emil Boc announced on Monday.

EPP’s third working group decided in Brussels on Monday to recomment the association to the EPP of the Democratic Party at a session in November. The status of the Romanian party will turn to full membership once the country joins the EU at the beginning of next year.
