A bomb threat was reported at the Palace of Justice in Bucharest on Thursday morning. Police intervened promptly to evacuate the building as several dozen employees were already there to prepare for a protest in favor of higher salaries.

The alert was proven false after several hours of searches on the grounds of the institution. The police announced an inquiry was launched to track down the author of the threat.

The building has been subjected to repair works for the past three years. It re-opened for daily activities on August 31, 2006. It currently hosts the Bucharest Court of Appeals and the District 5 Tribunal and will due to provide room for the National Union of Romanian Bars, the Bucharest Bar and the Association of Magistrates in Romania as well.
