The son of a Social-Democratic (PSD) deputy has mortally wounded an 8-year old girl in the county of Botosani, northern Romania. Police retained driver Lucian Tarcineru, son of MP Petru Tarniceru, who was driving under the influence when he ran his car into the little girl, throwing her 25 meters away from the crash spot.

The car crash comes at the end of a week when some 19 people died in two separate road accidents.

According to TV station Antena 3, the accident took place in the village of Mihaileni, Botosani county. The driver was arrested by the border police close to the city of Barlad, as he fled the scene of the accident.
