The Romanian Agriculture Ministry cannot fill in the vacant position of director of the Special Program of Pre-Accession for Agriculture and Rural Development (SAPARD) as no candidate submitted any proposal following the dismissal of former director Samoila Szabo on grounds of inefficiency, in the beginning of July.

In an interview for in June this year, Samoila Szabo argued he was not to be blamed for a huge lack of funding requests throughout 2005.

A new deadline will be set. The new director must come from the Democratic Hungarian Union. The party has already appointed a person but he has not submitted his candidature.
