Some 200 Romanian nationals evacuated from Lebanon are expected to return home by Friday morning, President Traian Basescu announced today. They’re leaving the conflict zone towards Syria by bus and are to arrive in Romania by plane.
The head of state said some 19 other nationals who could not reach the Romanian Embassy in Beirut will leave Lebanon by foreign ships toward Cyprus and are to be transferred on Romanian planes there.
Basescu had called on all Romanian citizens in Lebanon to gather at the Romanian Embassy in the Lebanese capital by Monday morning in order to be repatriated.
Some 500 Romanian nationals were evacuated from Lebanon so far.
