23,488 cars were sold in June 2006, up 0.1% compared to the previous month when 23,469 cars found their driver, according to the data provided by the Car Makers and Importers Association. (APIA)

The ascendent trend slowed down after the first five month when 9.9% more cars were sold compared to the same period in 2005, which accounted to 117,456 cars. In June, however, the rise reduced to 7.8%. Romanian car maker Dacia is the market leader, with a market share of 42.4%, but also Dacia sales dropped in June.

According to APIA, in June 10,038 Dacia cars were sold, down 295 pieces compared to May. In the first half of 2006, Dacia sold 49,802 cars. The Logan cars sold better on the internal market, up 5.6%, Dacia representatives say. Daewoo also sold 9,462 cars and holds 8.1% market share, while Renault sold 9164 cars and has a 7.8% market share. Skoda comes in four with 8,863 cars sold and a market share of 7.5%.
