The Authority for State Assets Recovery - AVAS reported incomes of 244.6 million Romanian lei from assets recovery activities in the first semester of 2006. 171.48 million of the total result from forced execution activities.
“The recent levy on 5,000 accounts had the expected effect. When firms don’t pay their dues willingly, we place levies on their assets and put them for tender, using all the legal and necessary means to recover their debts to the state budget”, AVAS head Razvan Orasanu has said.
AVAS locked the accounts of 9,374 debt-burdened companies in recent months and ordered levies on the assets of 178 companies.
