A spokesman for the Conservative Party (PC), a junior member of the governing coalition, announced on Monday that the party decided to postpone a decision on a possible withdrawal from the government until Sunday, June 25.

The leadership of the group has been discussing the option since CNSAS, the Bucharest body studying the archives of the Communist secret police, was alleged in the media to have decided that the PC president Dan Voiculescu collaborated with the dreaded Securitate political service.

The PC spokesman said the final decision on a possible withdrawal from the government belongs exclusively to the National Council of the party after talks of te PC Political Board on Monday.

Dan Voiculescu has threatened to sue the CNSAS over what he calls “leaked information” on his alleged collaboration with the Securitate to the media.
